Roberta Satow is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at Brooklyn College and a practicing psychoanalyst in New York City. She has taught at Brooklyn College since 1969. In addition to the book, Gender and Social Life (Allyn & Bacon, 2000), she has written numerous articles on sociological and psychoanalytic subjects that have appeared in journals and magazines such as Partisan Review and Psychology Today. Her newest book, Doing the Right Thing: Taking Care of Your Elderly Parents Even if They Didn't Take Care of You, was published in paperback by Jeremy Tarcher Publishers in 2006.
